Mrs. Duke mightn't have won her 1st WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she is one of the most powerful poker players at the cash games at The Bellagio in vegas. Annie's long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "cast aside game" of Omaha high-low.
While competitors from the "younger crowd" of poker run crazy after a large win at the tournament, Annie goes home and becomes "mom" to her 4 kids. She grew up in New Hampshire and raised into a family of poker players. If you don't accept that, watch her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to bet on the game.
However, Mrs. Duke is no small change girl and has won her cut of hard tables, including knocking out Howard along the way on several occasions. They are both players that have the capability to capture the big cash and do so with a grin.
Annie Duke is a tough player at any poker table considering that she is a real poker player, but it's a little more than just being good at the game. Annie Duke is extremely smart and graduated from Columbia University where she double majored in English and Psychology.
When you sit across from her at the table you know Annie is there to compete in the game and she begins "summing" you up from the time you join the poker table. If you cannot gamble like a camp, then do not bother.
Earning over 3 million dollars in tournament play, Mrs. Duke branched out to become a consultant to both the UltimateBet website and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wished to sharpen his talents and develop into a power at the tables.
You will likely glimpse her at the Bellagio, you'll definitely observe Annie on TV and you may even compete against her in a net poker match, but do not count on a simple win. Except of course you are a camp-in-the-making, you will not defeat her. However, it would be exciting to say you sat at the at the table with "The Duke".
